Dental Implants

At Ladue Family Dental, we understand how deeply your smile is connected to your everyday life. Missing teeth can make it harder to enjoy the simple things, such as sharing a laugh, eating your favorite meal, or speaking with confidence.

Dental implants can restore more than just your smile; they can bring back your comfort, your freedom, and your sense of self. With a solution that looks and feels natural, you can get back to living fully and enjoy improved self-confidence. Let us help you rediscover the joy you’ve been missing!

The Dental Implant Advantage

When you choose dental implants from Ladue Family Dental, your smile will thank you! Here are some of the benefits of this permanent tooth replacement:

Natural Appearance

Your dental implants will blend seamlessly with your other teeth. They’ll give you a natural appearance so no one will know you have them.

Complete Function

Because your dental implants will act like your natural teeth, you can easily bite down and chew your favorite foods and have no difficulty speaking.

Jawbone Preservation

Dental implants are placed directly into your jaw and mimic your tooth’s roots. They stimulate your jawbone and keep it from deteriorating.

Extreme Longevity

When you properly care for your implants and make regular visits to our dental office for checkups, your implants can last a lifetime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are designed to look, feel, and function like your natural teeth, and caring for them is similar to caring for your natural teeth. While they don’t require anything too special, maintaining proper oral hygiene is crucial to ensure your implant remains healthy and lasts a lifetime.

How Do I Care for My Dental Implants?

To keep your dental implants in excellent condition, follow these simple steps:

  • Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.
  • Floss daily around your implant and natural teeth to prevent plaque buildup.
  • Use an antibacterial mouthwash to reduce bacteria and maintain gum health.
  • Visit our office regularly for professional cleanings and checkups so we can monitor your implant and overall oral health.
  • Avoid chewing on hard objects like ice, pens, or hard candies to prevent damaging the crown attached to your implant.

What Can Happen If I Don’t Properly Care for My Implants?

Although dental implants can’t get cavities, the gums and bones around them can still become infected, leading to a condition called "peri-implantitis." This can cause gum inflammation, bone loss, and, in severe cases, implant failure. Proper daily care and regular dental visits are essential to prevent this.

What Are Dental Implants?

You can replace one or multiple missing teeth with dental implants. A single-tooth implant procedure consists of three different parts:

  1. Implant placement — The first step in the implant process involves surgically placing a titanium post into your jaw. This implant acts as your tooth’s roots and will later support a dental restoration.
  2. Abutment placement — Over the next several months, your implant will integrate with your jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. Then, we’ll add a connector piece to it. This abutment will secure your restoration to the implant itself.
  3. Restoration placement — The final step of the implant process involves adding a custom dental restoration to complete your smile. For a single-tooth implant, we use a dental crown. For multiple implants, we add a dental bridge or denture.

Are Implants Right for You?

When you visit us for an implant consultation, we’ll use the latest technology to determine whether dental implants are the right choice for you. If you have any of the following concerns, you may not be a suitable candidate, or you may need other treatments before we can begin the implant process:

  • Extensive tooth decay
  • Severe bone loss
  • Advanced gum disease
  • Certain medical conditions
  • Traumatic dental injury

Dental Implants Technology

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

With CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography), we can capture detailed 3-D images of all parts of your jaw, teeth, and soft tissues. This advanced technology lets us plan complex dental procedures much better than traditional x-rays.

For dental implants, we can assess bone density and precisely plan implant placement, and for root canal therapy, this technology allows us to see potential issues before we begin treatment.  We also use CBCT to help us plan orthodontic treatment, giving you the best outcomes in as little time as possible.
